Henkel has announced the acquisition of ATP Adhesive Systems, a Swiss provider of high-performance, water-based speciality tapes. Previously owned by Arsenal Capital Partners, ATP serves end markets such as automotive, electronics, medical, construction, and graphic applications. With approximately 700 employees and an expected turnover of around EUR 270 million in fiscal year 2025, this acquisition represents a significant step forward for Henkel’s Adhesive Technologies division.

ATP Adhesive Systems stands out with its portfolio, which comprises over 90 % water-based technologies. These offer a more sustainable alternative to traditional adhesive tapes, particularly due to their low VOC emissions and reduced CO₂ footprint. Carsten Knobel, Henkel’s CEO, emphasised that the acquisition strengthens the company’s growth strategy and aligns with its sustainability goals.

Henkel expands adhesive expertise beyond liquid technologies

Henkel is leveraging this acquisition to broaden its adhesive portfolio with complementary solutions. ATP Adhesive Systems contributes technological know-how in areas such as solvent-based and hot-melt adhesive tapes. Mark Dorn, Executive Vice President Adhesive Technologies at Henkel, stated that ATP’s state-of-the-art production facilities and technological capabilities lay a solid foundation for innovation in sustainable adhesive solutions.

The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. Financial details of the acquisition have not been disclosed.

Sustainable adhesive solutions as a growth driver

By integrating ATP Adhesive Systems, Henkel is creating a platform that goes beyond traditional liquid technologies, focusing on sustainable applications. The growing demand for environmentally friendly adhesive tapes highlights the acquisition’s potential, especially in dynamic markets like automotive and electronics. Henkel is setting a clear focus on innovation and value creation to secure its long-term market position.
