Burgess Pigment completes acquisition of Thiele Kaolin
Burgess Pigment has finalised its acquisition of Thiele Kaolin Company, bringing together two complementary kaolin businesses with shared roots in Sandersville, Georgia, USA.
Burgess Pigment, a producer of specialty kaolin pigments and functional mineral products headquartered in Sandersville, Georgia, has completed its acquisition of Thiele Kaolin Company, a global supplier of kaolin clay and silica products. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Founded in 1946 and likewise headquartered in Sandersville, Georgia, Thiele operates multiple mining and processing facilities across the United States and Europe, serving customers worldwide. Its product portfolio addresses a broad range of industrial end markets, including coated board, coated paper, packaging, construction materials, and industrial applications. As a result of the transaction, both Thiele and Burgess Pigment have become wholly-owned subsidiaries of a newly established holding company owned by Burgess Pigment’s existing shareholders.
The combined company will offer an expanded portfolio of kaolin products alongside enhanced technical and R&D capabilities. In terms of leadership, Sandy Burgess will continue as Chief Executive Officer and President of Burgess Pigment, while Eric Tillerson will remain as President of Thiele. Both companies will continue to operate under their respective names as wholly-owned subsidiaries of the new holding company.
