Songwon announces major OPS investment in Saudi Arabia

Songwon Industrial has announced a new greenfield investment to establish a One Pack Systems (OPS) production facility in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The project aims to strengthen the company’s position in the polyolefin industry and enhance regional supply of high-performance additive systems.

The new facility is scheduled for completion in 2028 and will remain wholly owned by Songwon. The plan is to manufacture high-performance additive blends that support the efficient production of polyolefin resins. With the new site, Songwon aims to shorten its delivery times, increase supply security in the region and meet the growing demand for additives in the Middle East.

The project is part of the company’s global expansion strategy and complements existing production sites in the United Arab Emirates, Germany and the USA. The investment also supports Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the economy and expand local value chains.

Additives are not only relevant for polymer processing, but also for coating applications where oxidation and light stabilising systems play a central role. With the new facility, Songwon is improving the availability of such stabilisers in the Middle East – an important step for manufacturers who use polyolefin-coated substrates or functional polymer-based coating systems. The investment thus also contributes to the development of durable, weather-resistant coatings in the region.
