German machinery and plant engineering company Ystral is expanding its activities in India, further strengthening its position in one of the company’s most important growth markets. By relocating to a new site in Bangalore, expanding its local team and increasing the use of locally sourced components, Ystral is reinforcing its footprint in India and Southeast Asia.

Ystral designs and manufactures mixing, dispersing and powder wetting systems as well as complete process plants used worldwide in industries such as chemicals, paints and coatings, food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and battery cell production. The company has been active in India since 2013 through its subsidiary Ystral India. With the move to the new site, the local team will grow from nine to 15 employees, covering engineering, electrical engineering, software development, sales and service.

Increased localisation and faster project execution

As part of the expansion, Ystral will increasingly source selected components, such as motor frames, from local suppliers in India, while key core components will continue to be manufactured in Germany. Final assembly will be carried out by a local partner. According to the company, this approach is intended to maintain competitiveness in the Indian market while ensuring consistent quality standards.

The expansion of the Bangalore team is also expected to accelerate project execution and improve service response times. Speed and flexibility are regarded as key success factors in the Indian market.

India as a regional service hub

India is currently Ystral’s fastest-growing market worldwide. In the medium term, the Bangalore site is expected to develop into a regional service hub supporting not only the Indian market but also other countries in Asia. In addition, Ystral India is planned to take on software development tasks for the company’s headquarters in Germany and to support service activities for other Asian subsidiaries, including those in China and Singapore.
