On 21 April 2026, Evonik officially commissioned its expanded specialty amine production facility in Nanjing, China. The investment, which is in the double-digit million euro range, is intended to enhance supply security, access to raw materials and the company’s global competitiveness. The expansion addresses the growing need for high-performance, low-emission additives for polyurethane and epoxy applications.

With the new production capacity, Evonik is responding to rising demand in Asia, and particularly in China, where the consumption of sustainable solutions in the automotive, construction, furniture and consumer goods industries is increasing. Specialty amines are essential additives in the manufacture of polyurethane foam and epoxy resins, which play a key role in corrosion-protection coatings and adhesives.

With the expanded Nanjing facility, Evonik is relying on innovative technologies to meet the demand for more energy-efficient, low-odour and VOC-reduced products. Christian Kullmann, Chairman of the Executive Board of Evonik, emphasised: “This project not only represents the opening of new capacities, but also underlines our long-term commitment to China. Through local production and sustainable innovation, we are creating a stable platform for growth.”
