Further information

Speaker

Oliver Korten

After graduating in mathematics (Diplom II with physics as a subsidiary subject), I initially worked as a software developer in the field of CNC machine control in industry. After a year, I moved to the Central Colorimetry department at Herberts, a large automotive paint manufacturer, to strengthen internal software development and to support the then head of department, Wilhelm Kettler, in the development of new algorithms in the field of colorimetry. After the departure of my superior, the company had been taken over by DuPont Performance Coatings (now Axalta), I gradually took over the role of employee in two standardisation committees at DIN on colorimetric issues, in addition to the department. After the death of Wilhelm Kettler in 2018, I was entrusted with the seminar leadership for the colourist training at Vincentz Verlag, together with the corresponding lectures. Since February 2019, I have been working for ORONTEC, ‘the leading provider of integrated system solutions for the paint and coatings industry’ and ‘the architects of the Smart Paint Factory’, as a software developer, colour and data scientist in the development department. I am also a member of the German Society for Colour Science (dfwG) and the German Research Association for Surface Treatment (DFO) and have been a mentor for practical computer science at the FernUniversität in Hagen for more than a decade.

Dr. Uwe Hempelmann

Dr Uwe Hempelmann pursued his studies in chemistry at the University of Bielefeld, where he was awarded his doctorate in 1987. From 1989 onwards, he was employed initially at Bayer AG and subsequently at LANXESS AG in the Pigments division. During this period, he occupied a number of positions, including research, technical marketing and regulatory issues. Presently, he is responsible for REACH, regulatory issues and quality management. He is a member or chairman of various standardisation committees at both national and international level. In addition to his professional engagements, he is an active speaker, delivering lectures at the ‘Coloristik’ seminars in Stuttgart, organised by the Research Society for Pigments and Coatings in cooperation with Vincentz.
