Toyo Ink India, a subsidiary of Japan’s artience Group, has officially opened its first research centre outside Japan at the prestigious Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru. The ‘artience Technology and Innovation Centre – India’ (aTIC-India) was inaugurated on 4 February 2026. This development underscores India’s growing importance as a hub for advanced research, manufacturing, and sustainable innovation within the global materials industry.

The newly established aTIC-India is designed to conduct molecular-level research for creating next-generation, sustainable, and high-performance materials. These innovations are expected to support industrial applications across various sectors, including infrastructure, communication, healthcare, energy, and advanced electronics. The research centre also aims to foster co-creation, bringing together academic institutions and industry players to tackle real-world challenges through advanced materials science.

Collaboration with IISc provides strategic foundation

The establishment of aTIC-India is a result of a partnership between Toyo Ink India and IISc Bengaluru that began in 2021. The centre, located on the IISc campus, reflects the artience Group’s long-term commitment to India—not only as a growing market but as a vital hub for innovation and manufacturing.

Satoru Takashima, CEO of artience Group, highlighted the significance of this milestone during the inauguration ceremony: “The inauguration of aTIC-India marks a proud and historic milestone for artience Group. It reflects our commitment to excellence, purposeful innovation, and long-term collaboration, rooted in quality, sustainability, and real-world relevance.”

The company acknowledged the crucial role played by IISc Professors and Researchers in guiding the development of the research centre. Toyo Ink India also invited industry stakeholders to actively engage with aTIC-India by bringing forward challenges and unmet needs for collaborative problem-solving.

Balancing performance, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness

Guided by the artience Group’s brand promise of “creating value that resonates with the senses,” aTIC-India is set to deliver materials solutions that balance high quality, robust performance, and cost-effectiveness. By focusing on sustainable innovation, the centre aims to create long-term value for industries, society, and future generations.
