Brenntag, an international distributor of chemicals and ingredients, has entered into an exclusive agreement with GF Biochemicals to distribute its levulinate esters for the CASE (coatings, adhesives, sealants, elastomers) market in Europe. These bio-based solvents are derived from agricultural residues such as corn cobs and bagasse and serve as an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional fossil solvents.
Expansion of sustainable product portfolio
Dr Annika Herbst, European Technical Business Development Manager Sustainable Products at Brenntag Essentials, explained: ‘Our partnership with GFBiochemicals enables us to offer innovative and sustainable alternatives that meet industry needs.’
Jan Weernink, CCO of GF Biochemicals, emphasised that this collaboration is crucial to providing the CASE sector with economically viable alternatives to fossil-based solvents. The products support both companies’ ESG goals and the requirements of the Net-Zero Industry Act in Europe.
