RPM acquires Kalzip to strengthen global building envelope portfolio
RPM International has announced the acquisition of German company Kalzip, a provider of aluminium roofing and façade systems. The strategic move will expand RPM’s Tremco Construction Products Group’s capabilities and market presence in Europe, India and beyond.
RPM International, headquartered in Medina, Ohio, has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Kalzip, a globally recognised producer of aluminium-based roofing and façade systems for building envelopes. This acquisition is set to enhance the product portfolio and international reach of RPM’s subsidiary, Tremco Construction Products Group (Tremco CPG).
Kalzip, based in Koblenz, Germany, specialises in lightweight, weather-resistant aluminium solutions, with a strong global presence and notable projects such as El Prat Airport in Barcelona, Mercedes Benz Arena in Berlin, and Ikea Dubai. In 2024, the German company generated net sales of approximately EUR 75 million, highlighting its market strength. With this acquisition, Tremco CPG aims to expand its aluminium systems offering beyond Europe and India, entering the North American market as part of its growth strategy.
Strategic expansion in aluminium building envelope solutions
The addition of Kalzip aligns with Tremco CPG’s mission to deliver integrated building envelope systems, including roofing restoration, waterproofing, sealants and exterior insulation. The transaction, anticipated to close by the end of fiscal 2026, is subject to customary conditions. Kalzip’s senior management team, led by Andrew Leach, will remain with the business to ensure a smooth transition and drive growth under RPM’s leadership.
Implications for the global construction sector
Frank C. Sullivan, RPM chairman and CEO, emphasised the strategic importance of this acquisition for high-growth, specification-driven construction markets. Kalzip’s expertise in designing aluminium systems will complement RPM’s global capabilities, particularly in enhancing building performance and sustainability. The acquisition strengthens RPM’s position in the building envelope sector, reflecting broader industry trends towards durable, lightweight materials and integrated construction solutions.
