Markus Kamieth appointed Cefic President
In his new role, BASF CEO succeeds Ilham Kadri, CEO of Syensqo.
Dr. Markus Kamieth has been appointed by the Cefic Board as member of the Board and President of Cefic in his capacity as CEO of BASF, effective 1 January 2026. Kamieth has also assumed the role of Chair of the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA). Cefic, the European Chemical Industry Council, congratulates Dr. Markus Kamieth as he takes on the presidency and guides the chemical industry into its next chapter.
As Dr. Ilham Kadri, CEO of Syensqo, concludes her term as Cefic President and ICCA Chair, Cefic recognises her exceptional leadership and achievements. According to Cefic, her presidency stands out as one of the most impactful periods in recent industrial policy history, significantly reshaping the understanding of competitiveness and industry needs across Europe.
