Frei Lacke has started building its new Product Technology Centre (PTC) at the company’s main site in Döggingen. The three-storey facility will provide expanded laboratory space for development and application technology as well as areas for internal testing and technical training. Completion is planned for early 2027.

The project will bring together previously dispersed pilot plant and laboratory capacities and create additional space for research, development and technical support.

Sustainable building design

The PTC will comprise approximately 550 m² per floor and be fully accessible. Energy-efficient building services with heat pump technology and integration with existing site infrastructure are intended to minimise additional energy demand.

Planning and construction involve partners such as Schmelzle + Partner (architecture), Planungsgruppe Schnepf (building services), Buchner Bauingenieure (structural engineering) and Stumpp Bauunternehmen (construction). The building shell is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026.

Strengthening R&D and the site

With the PTC, Frei Lacke is expanding its research, development and application technology capacity while reinforcing its commitment to the Döggingen site as a centre for coatings innovation.
