Brazil’s paint and coatings market reaches record high in 2024
Brazil’s paint and coatings industry reached a historic milestone in 2024, selling nearly 2 billion liters — a total of 1.983 billion liters, marking 6.0% growth over the previous year. According to Abrafati, this represents the best performance in the country’s historical series.
Growth was observed across all product lines. Automotive OEM coatings saw the strongest rise at +9.7%, driven by increasing car production. Decorative paints maintained their momentum with a 5.9% increase, reaching a record 1.490 billion liters. This reflects ongoing consumer trends toward home improvement and growing consumer confidence.
Industrial coatings rose 6.3% year-on-year, fueled by sales of consumer durables and infrastructure investments. Meanwhile, automotive refinish coatings increased by 3.6%, benefitting from both new and used car sales and corresponding repair activities.
For 2025, Abrafati expects more moderate growth in the range of 2.0% to 2.5%.
