Biocoat opens first European coating service centre in Copenhagen
US-based coating specialist Biocoat has opened its first European site in Copenhagen, offering local testing and coating services for medical device manufacturers.
Biocoat has announced the launch of Copenhagen Coating Services, a new centre providing hydrophilic coating services for medical devices. Located in Denmark’s capital, the facility marks the company’s first physical presence in Europe and aims to simplify and accelerate development for European manufacturers.
The site offers feasibility testing and local coating services for minimally invasive devices such as catheters and guidewires. By working with a European-based facility, companies can reduce shipping costs, shorten turnaround times and access coating technologies directly within the region.
Local support for medical device development
Biocoat has been supplying hydrophilic coating solutions for medical applications for more than 30 years. With the Copenhagen site, European OEMs, contract manufacturers and start-ups gain direct access to technologies and expertise that were previously only available from the United States.
The expansion highlights Europe’s growing role in the development and production of interventional and diagnostic medical devices with specialised surface coatings.
