Arkema triples global capacity for transparent polyamides with new unit in Singapore
Arkema has launched a new production facility for transparent polyamides in Singapore, tripling its global capacity. The investment supports the company’s strategic focus on high-performance specialty materials and sustainability.
French chemicals and advanced materials producer Arkema has announced the full operational status of its new “Rilsan Clear” transparent polyamide production unit in Singapore. The facility, located within the company’s established Singapore platform, represents a strategic investment of approximately around EUR 18.8 million. The expansion triples Arkema’s global production capacity for transparent polyamide materials, reinforcing its position as the leading global producer of specialty polyamides.
The newly commissioned unit is a response to increasing demand for sustainable, high-performance transparent materials across various industries. These include applications in eyewear, augmented/virtual reality devices, smart consumer electronics, industrial filtration systems, healthcare devices, and home appliances. Laurent Tellier, senior vice-president of High Performance Polymers and Fluorogases at Arkema, emphasised that the facility’s development aligns with the company’s strategic roadmap to enhance its portfolio of speciality materials while ensuring proximity to customers in the Asia-Pacific region.
