Event Conference
10. - 11. Mar 2026 | Berlin, GermanyEmerging Trends in Architectural Coatings
Advanced coating solutions for energy-efficient and low-impact architecture
The architectural coatings industry stands at the core of the sustainable transformation of the built environment. Once limited to purely aesthetic and protective roles, coatings are now engineered as functional interfaces that influence energy performance, moisture regulation, and long‑term material stability. With urbanization, stricter emission targets, and the decarbonization of construction processes, the global coatings market is undergoing a structural shift toward low‑impact, circular, and adaptive material systems.
This event brings together scientists, polymer chemists, and formulation experts to discuss how laboratory innovation can directly impact the energy efficiency and environmental footprint of modern architecture. As climatic stresses intensify, high‑performance coatings capable of regulating thermal radiation, resisting degradation, and reducing operational energy use are gaining strategic importance.
Laboratories are advancing IR‑reflective pigments, silicone–acrylic hybrid binders, and photocatalytic nanoparticles to create façades that self‑clean, reflect heat, and maintain long‑term performance. In parallel, digital formulation tools, predictive modeling, and high‑throughput experimentation are transforming R&D efficiency by correlating composition, process parameters, and field durability data. Combined with life‑cycle analysis and traceable raw‑material sourcing, these advances enable the design of coatings with quantifiable carbon and energy benefits.
This event thus recognizes architectural coatings as an essential technology for sustainable construction—and the laboratory as the driving force translating material science into measurable climate action.
