IMCD acquires Merit Solution in Thailand
Merit Solution, a distributor of additives for the plastic and compounding industry, is based in Bangkok and serves a wide range of applications, including plastics, construction and adhesives.
IMCD N.V. has announced the full acquisition of Merit Solution. By acquiring Merit Solution, IMCD enhances its position in the Thai market for plastic additives and expands its portfolio for the formulation and compounding industry. The acquisition significantly broadens the company’s offering of sustainable solutions and strengthens its local presence.
With an experienced team of 24 employees, offices and a laboratory in Bangkok, Merit Solution generated revenues of approximately THB 406 million (around EUR 10.7 million) in 2025. The acquisition will help IMCD strengthen its market position in Thailand and Southeast Asia, while expanding its product offering for compounders and converters. According to Pichit Pornthanalert, Managing Director of IMCD Thailand, the acquisition provides an opportunity to deepen supplier and customer relationships: “We are excited to gain scale, welcome a talented team and expand our comprehensive solution offering.”
Portfolio expansion and focus on sustainability
The management team of Merit Solution views the acquisition as a strategic move to combine expertise in plastic additives with IMCD’s existing portfolio. This enables a holistic platform for sustainable solutions that enhance product performance, processing efficiency and durability. “With a broader product range and strengthened local presence, we are now better equipped to support our customers in developing sustainable and high-performing products,” stated the management team of Merit Solution.
The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to be finalised in the third quarter of 2026. This step solidifies IMCD’s position as a provider of speciality chemicals and solutions for the Thai plastics industry and beyond.
