With the official opening of its new site in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic, Wacker expands its production capacities for customised specialty silicones. The facility supports key growth sectors such as e-mobility, medical technology, and grid expansion.
Wacker Chemie has officially inaugurated a new production site for specialty silicones in Karlsbad, Czech Republic. After just two years of construction, the first production line has now been launched. The site focuses on tailored silicones for strategic growth markets including e-mobility, healthcare, medical technology, and energy infrastructure. With this new facility, Wacker aims to reinforce its specialty strategy and strengthen its position as a solutions provider for key industries.
“Karlovy Vary is an essential pillar of our silicone activities in Europe and a cornerstone of our specialty strategy,” stated Christian Kirsten, Executive Board member at Wacker. The site complements production hubs in Pilsen, Nünchritz, and Burghausen, creating a more flexible and efficient European production network.
Wacker is restructuring its silicone operations in Europe: liquid silicone rubber will now be produced in Burghausen, thermally conductive silicones and silicone gels in Pilsen, while Karlovy Vary specialises in room-temperature vulcanising silicones and solid silicone rubber.
