IMCD has officially opened its new Technical Centre in Istanbul, Türkiye, marking a significant step in its strategy to support local markets with advanced formulation expertise. The facility consolidates laboratories for coatings & construction, beauty & personal care, food & nutrition, and pharmaceuticals under one roof, enabling cross-disciplinary collaboration and streamlined technical services.

Located in Ataşehir, Istanbul, the centre offers a range of capabilities, including formulation development, product optimisation, technical consultancy, and hands-on support for customers seeking to innovate. IMCD aims to leverage its global expertise and local market insight to address evolving industry needs across Türkiye and surrounding regions, such as the Middle East, Maghreb, and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Enhanced innovation across industries
The newly integrated Coatings & Construction Laboratory provides technical and formulation support for decorative and industrial paints, protective coatings, wood finishes, and floor coverings. It also focuses on ceramic adhesives and thermal insulation systems, enabling performance tests and verifications under end-use conditions.

Meanwhile, the Beauty & Personal Care Laboratory and its dedicated Beauty Studio promote ideation and co-creation. Brands can collaborate with IMCD experts to develop multifunctional formulations that prioritise texture, sensory experience, manufacturability, and market readiness.

Local support for pharmaceuticals and food sectors
For the first time, IMCD has introduced a dedicated Pharmaceuticals Technical Centre. This facility supports development across solid, liquid, and semi-solid dosage forms, applying internationally accepted guidelines and Quality by Design (QbD) principles. It serves as a regional hub, fostering faster collaboration and enabling complex development projects with enhanced confidence.

Additionally, the Food & Nutrition Laboratory combines global trend insights with technical expertise to create innovative solutions for dairy, bakery, beverages, and savoury applications. By focusing on taste, texture, nutritional value, and functionality, the laboratory offers pilot trials, prototype concepts, and ingredient optimisation.

Commitment to Türkiye’s chemical industry growth
Aylin Zakuto, Managing Director of IMCD Türkiye, described the centre as a “chemical technology hub” designed to accelerate product selection and formulation while offering training and seminars. Zakuto emphasised Türkiye’s geographical advantage and skilled workforce as key factors in the region’s growth potential.

By integrating its laboratories and expanding capabilities, IMCD aims to strengthen its position in the local market and support customers from concept to commercialisation.
