Yip’s Chemical’s new coatings facility, “Hang Cheung (Vietnam) Advanced Materials Company Limited,” is located in the Dinh Vu-Cat Hai Economic Zone in Haiphong, Vietnam. The plant spans over 7,200 square metres and boasts an annual production capacity of approximately 3,000 metric tonnes. Equipped with advanced colour matching systems, rigorous quality controls, and a globally certified testing laboratory, the facility is set to serve the high-end plastic coatings market across Southeast Asia. Yip’s Chemical is China’s largest manufacturer of inks and a top 10 coatings manufacturer in China.

The new plant represents a significant step in Yip’s Chemical’s strategy to optimise its global supply chain and deepen its presence in ASEAN markets. “We firmly believe in Vietnam’s potential and resilience amidst a volatile global economy,” said Francis Ip Kwan, CEO of Yip’s Chemical, during the opening ceremony. He emphasised the role of the plant as a “core engine” for the company’s plastic coatings business, enabling more efficient responses to customer needs and capturing growth opportunities in the region’s rapidly evolving industrial landscape.

Strategic expansion in Southeast Asia

The establishment of the Haiphong plant aligns with the Group’s broader vision of “basing in China, looking to ASEAN.” As Southeast Asia becomes a key hub for global industrial manufacturing, the new facility strengthens Yip’s Chemical’s position in the high-end coatings market. Raymond Chan Chuen Sang, President of Bauhinia Advanced Materials Group, highlighted the plant’s rapid development, stating, “The Vietnam plant achieved the breakthrough from conception to completion in just one year, a testament to the close cooperation of all parties involved.”

With its localised production capabilities, the plant is expected to improve supply chain efficiency while enhancing the Group’s ability to deliver eco-friendly solutions for toys, electronics, and consumer goods. In addition, the facility’s proximity to customers in Southeast Asia allows for more agile responses to market demands, fostering competitive advantages in a region marked by fast-paced industrial growth.
