BASF has commissioned a new production line for polymer dispersions serving the architectural coatings and construction industries at its Dilovası site near Istanbul. The investment significantly boosts capacity and broadens the local product portfolio to address changing customer needs in Türkiye, the Middle East and Northwest Africa.

The new facility produces low-VOC dispersions to support improved indoor air quality and CO₂-reduced products manufactured using the mass balance approach. The entire site will run on green electricity to lower the carbon footprint.

Strengthening supply reliability and sustainability

The expansion aims to enhance supply security for regional markets while advancing the transition to more sustainable building materials. It complements BASF’s European production network and increases flexibility in volumes and product grades.

“With the start-up of this new line, we are well positioned to meet growing demand for innovative dispersions,” said Dr Jörg Niebergall, Senior Vice President Dispersions Europe. “Our ability to deliver CO₂-reduced products demonstrates BASF’s ambition to support our customers’ green transformation.”

Strategic role of the Dilovası site

Operating for fifty-five years, the Dilovası plant benefits from its strategic location near Istanbul. The expansion strengthens its role as a key hub for dispersions across the Middle East and North Africa and supports BASF’s broader sustainability goals.
