IMCD acquires Italian speciality chemicals distributor Tillmanns

IMCD strengthens its presence in Italy with the acquisition of Tillmanns. The deal broadens its portfolio in coatings, construction, food and water treatment markets.

IMCD, a global distributor of speciality chemicals and ingredients, has signed an agreement to acquire all shares in Tillmanns S.p.A. Founded in 1940 and headquartered in Milan, Tillmanns is a long-standing distributor serving the coatings, construction, food and water treatment markets. The company employs 78 people and generated revenues of around EUR 143 million in 2024.

Tillmanns operates a logistics centre in Milan and runs an in-house R&D laboratory, providing testing, tailored formulations and technical support. IMCD regards the acquisition as a strategic fit that enhances its scale in Italy and creates further growth opportunities in industrial and food applications.

Strategic step in the Italian market

Marcus Jordan, CEO of IMCD, highlighted that the acquisition strengthens the company’s footprint in Italy. Tillmanns contributes “local expertise, a loyal customer base and a strong platform for growth,” he said. The partnership is also expected to deepen supplier relations and expand IMCD’s digital and technical services.

The transaction remains subject to customary regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025.
