Organik Kimya boosts water-based emulsion polymer capacity

Turkish speciality chemicals producer Organik Kimya has commissioned a new high-performance reactor at its Istanbul site, significantly expanding production of water-based emulsion polymers. The investment is aimed at shorter lead times, stronger peak-season supply reliability and greater flexibility for innovation.

Organik Kimya has brought a new liquid emulsion polymer reactor on stream at its Istanbul facility. The investment is designed to cut delivery times, secure supply during seasonal demand peaks and provide extra capacity for customer-specific developments. COO Tansel Özyönüm emphasised that every additional tonne of capacity is measured against two customer metrics: “lead-time to dock” and “on-time in-full during peak season.”

Operating parallel reactor trains enables just-in-time deliveries and reduces customer inventory levels. The extra swing capacity also helps absorb demand spikes in architectural and functional coatings, construction chemicals, textile and leather binders, water-based pressure-sensitive adhesives and speciality paper applications.

Integrated solutions for liquid and powder systems

The new reactor complements the second high-tech spray dryer for redispersible polymer powders (RDP) commissioned in Turkey in 2024, which doubled powder output while reducing energy consumption by 15 %. Together, these investments enable Organik Kimya to deliver integrated solutions, including:

  • Acrylic water-based emulsions for low-VOC coatings, inks and textile finishes.

  • High-solid, low-viscosity latexes for next-generation pressure-sensitive adhesives.

  • Performance-engineered RDPs to enhance workability and strength in cementitious construction materials.

All products are manufactured under Industry 4.0 process control, fully automated packaging and supported by global technical service hubs. Organik Kimya exports to over 100 countries and continues to expand into new markets.
