Haltermann Carless, a global supplier of advanced hydrocarbon solutions, has announced the successful divestment of its production facility in Manvel, Texas, USA. The transaction, completed at the end of 2025, represents a strategic decision to exit the Oxo business, a segment primarily serving the pharmaceutical and printing ink industries. The move is part of the company’s “RACE” transformation programme, aimed at portfolio optimisation, complexity reduction, and targeted growth in high-margin markets.

The Manvel site, acquired by the company in 2015, specialised in manufacturing Oxo products such as alcohols and esters. These were predominantly supplied to US-based customers. However, the company recognised that the Oxo business, being commodity-driven and highly localised, was not aligned with its long-term strategic objectives. Peter Friesenhahn, CEO, highlighted that the divestment allows the chemicals supplier to better allocate resources towards its global product portfolio and sustainable innovations.

Strategic focus on high-margin and sustainable solutions

Dr. Eva Morsbach, Senior Vice President Corporate Development & Sustainability, emphasised the restructuring’s alignment with the company’s commitment to advanced technologies and sustainability. By reallocating resources from the Oxo business, the company aims to enhance its delivery of high-purity hydrocarbons and sustainable solutions across industries such as paints, coatings, adhesives, and fuel additives.

Despite exiting the Oxo business, the United States remains a central growth market for the company. Its strong subsidiary, Haltermann Carless US, will continue to serve key sectors, ensuring a robust presence in the region. This development underscores the company’s strategy to thrive in challenging economic environments by focusing on innovation and high-value specialty products.
