American Coatings Association appoints new chairman and vice chairman

Chase Bean of Tnemec Company and Frank C. Sullivan of RPM International have been named chairman and vice chairman of the American Coatings Association (ACA). Their leadership is set to guide the association’s strategic initiatives until 2028.

In their new roles, Bean and Sullivan will oversee the ACA’s strategic direction, focusing on financial management, organisational development, and policy initiatives. Michael W. Johnson, ACA’s president and CEO, highlighted their significance to the association’s advocacy mission. “Their enduring leadership and vision for ACA’s advocacy mission will ensure the growth and welfare of a strong and dynamic U.S. paint and coatings industry,” Johnson stated.

Extensive industry expertise guides ACA’s strategic direction

Chase Bean brings a wealth of experience from his career in the coatings industry, which began in technical services working directly with Tnemec customers. His career trajectory includes leadership roles in sales, business development, research and development, and technical services, culminating in his current position as CEO. Bean holds a BA in English from the University of the South and an MBA from the University of Missouri–Kansas City. He has also held leadership roles in various nonprofit organisations.

Frank C. Sullivan started his journey at RPM International in 1987 and has since risen through the ranks to become chairman and CEO. His broad experience includes corporate development, financial management, and operational leadership. Sullivan earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina and has served on numerous boards, including the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.
