Smart surfaces for demanding materials
The EC Conference Frontiers in wood coatings, formerly the Wood Coatings Congress, has established itself as the international reference platform for scientific and technical exchange in the field of wood coatings. Over the course of two intensive days in Amsterdam, the conference will bring together stakeholders from across the value chain — from resin and additive producers to leading research institutes, coating manufacturers, and end-use industries — to discuss the latest advances in formulations, application processes, and sustainable solutions.
At the same time, the conference will reflect the sector’s growing attention to functionality and performance. Current research highlights include advances in fire retardancy, UV screening, antifungal protection, and innovative additives aimed at blocking stains and improving adhesion on challenging substrates. Digitalisation and data-driven approaches are also becoming increasingly relevant, as high-throughput testing, accelerated weathering models, and predictive simulations open new avenues for service life prediction and faster innovation cycles. With the integration of nanostructured materials and bio-inspired additives, the field is moving towards coatings that are not only protective, but multifunctional — combining durability, surface enhancement, and environmental responsibility in one system.
Why you should attend:
Established for years with an international audience and very good ratings regarding the quality of presentations.
The entire event is planned to facilitate and promote exchange between wood coating experts and all participants, with a networking dinner also included.
Immerse yourself in the latest industry advances. Transition to water-borne coatings, VOC reduction, fire protection, and the latest advances in digitization and automation.
The team behind European Coatings evaluates and selects the most innovative and novel presentations on Wood Coatings to offer a high-quality, relevant program.
