Berger Paints Bangladesh names Mohsin Habib Chowdhury CEO and Managing Director

Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited has announced the appointment of Mohsin Habib Chowdhury as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director, effective 01 August 2026. The decision, approved at a board meeting on 29 April 2026, reinforces the company’s focus on innovation, sustainability, and industry leadership.
Mr. Chowdhury has had a distinguished career at Berger Paints, serving in various pivotal roles, including Chief Operating Officer (COO), Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, and Director. Having joined the company in 1995 after completing his MBA from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) at the University of Dhaka, he has consistently championed business diversification, pioneering product development, and workforce inclusivity.
Leadership in sustainability and innovation
Under Chowdhury’s leadership, Berger Paints Bangladesh has introduced groundbreaking initiatives such as lead-free, low-VOC paints and the “Berger Eco Coat” and “Breathe Easy Series,” setting sustainability benchmarks within the Bangladeshi coatings industry. His emphasis on technology-driven innovation was evident in the launch of the Berger Color Bank tinting system in 1998, revolutionising colour customisation in the market.
In addition to product advancements, Chowdhury has focused on sustainable manufacturing practices, including the adoption of Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) technologies and ESG measures across production facilities. Notably, his efforts extend to workforce development through initiatives like the Berger Training Institute, which equips applicators and painters with specialised skills to support industry growth.
Advocacy and industry recognition
As President of the Bangladesh Paint Manufacturers Association (BPMA) for the 2025–2026 term, Chowdhury has actively advocated for environmentally friendly, lead-free paints while addressing challenges such as rising production costs and heightened supplementary duties. His engagement with policymakers highlights his commitment to ensuring the competitiveness and sustainability of the paint sector.
In recognition of his contributions, Chowdhury was honoured with the COO/Operations Director of the Year 2024 award at the Bangladesh C-Suite Awards, among other accolades. Berger Paints Bangladesh expressed confidence in his ability to drive the company’s strategic vision, citing his unmatched dedication to enhancing product quality and consumer satisfaction.
