The Büfa Group, headquartered in Oldenburg, Germany, is setting the course for a smooth management transition. As part of an early succession plan, Dr. Moritz Fichtmüller will take over as CEO in spring 2026. He will succeed Felix Thalmann, who has led the family-owned company for more than twelve years and will step down from active professional life at his own request next year.

Fichtmüller, who holds a doctorate in physics, studied in Munich, Paris and Oxford. His career began in consulting before he moved into the chemical industry. He has held various management positions at Budenheim and Celanese, gaining extensive experience in the field.

Continuity and new perspectives

Jan Philipp Wuppermann, spokesperson for the shareholder family and Chairman of the Advisory Board, emphasised that with Fichtmüller, Büfa is gaining a proven industry expert. The planned change is intended to ensure continuity in the successful work of Thalmann, while also bringing new ideas and fresh impetus for the future.

Fichtmüller expressed his anticipation of taking on overall responsibility in what he described as a future-oriented, international family business. He will work closely with Thalmann during a transition phase before assuming full responsibility as CEO in spring 2026.
