Paint laboratory technician training

After moving to Germany in 1966, Paolo Nanetti was appointed Coatings Technician in charge of the development of electrical insulation coatings at Herrmann Wiederhold Lackfabriken, Hilden/Germany, and then at Felten & Guillaume Dielektra, Porz/Germany. In 1971 he joined Spies & Hecker GmbH in Cologne/ Germany, today DuPont Performance Coatings. First he worked on the development of putties and fillers (surfacers) and aerosol lacquers; later he became pigment advisor to the laboratories at the company’s pigment centre, where he led the pigment basic research. In 1984 he took over the direction of the analytical laboratory, the testing of raw materials and the paste standardisation. In 1991 he assumed full time responsibility for the scientific apprenticeship and further education programs at the Cologne site. Since 2002 he has been working as an Academic Research Assistant at the University of Applied Sciences Niederrhein, Krefeld/ Germany, in the Department of Coatings Engineering assisting students and executing projects.
