EC Webinar | Development of aqueous bio-based amine components for binder systems in coating applications

13:30 - 14:30 h (CET)

The Institute for Wood Technology Dresden (IHD) is aiming to develop bio-based, aqueous prepolymers containing free amino groups (synthesis processes, property profiles, upscaling), which can be used in aqueous formulations in combination with previously developed waterborne cyclic carbonates as well as epoxies, anhydrides and isocyanates to create a broad variety of bio-based and/or waterborne binders. In the presented project, a variety of amine-prepolymers are synthesized and their performance is evaluated, in reference to classical amines such as Polyethylenimines. Based on the lab-study preferential variants are being singled out and scaled up to small-technical scale (10-liter reactor). At the end of the project, demonstrators will be offered to interested parties from industry.

This webinar is a preview to the EC Conference Bio-based & Water-based Coatings and is free of charge. To dive even deeper into the two hottest topics in the industry join the conference in Cologne from 5-6 November 2024!

Speaker

Andreas Fischer, IHD

Andreas Fischer, born in 1983, studied chemistry at the TU Dortmund and the Ruhr University Bochum. In his doctorate, he deepened his focus on organic chemistry and then switched to the Institute for Wood Technology in Dresden. Here he develops bio-based binders for coatings and adhesives in the chemistry department. Other fields of research are reactive flame retardants for polyurethane-based binders.
