Advancing water-based acrylic performance for architectural wood coatings
Authors: Thomas Bernhofer, Maurille Secher, Raymond Somich
Consumers demand high performance while environmental, regulatory, and other legislation restrict the type of materials paint formulators can use. It is a challenge when certain chemistry technologies have inherited limitations, but it is known that waterborne acrylics are the future.
The new Synthomer portfolio introduces several innovative waterborne binders that have performance properties that were not achievable before – but now they are. And, they continue to improve. Old limitations like film formation in unfavourable climatic conditions, lack of in-can clarity of stain formulations, limited long term adhesion, hardness and gloss without the use of hazardous components have been addressed. Further, these new technologies are compliant with the most stringent Ecolabel requirements and can be formulated at very low VOC levels.
The future of Architectural decorative wood coatings are high-performance, formulator friendly and environmental, toxicological, health and safety focused. Join us for a sharing of the technology advancements Synthomer has made and we welcome your input so we can achieve even greater breakthroughs together for tomorrow.
