EC WebForum Preservation - with and without biocides
A holistic overview on hygiene, testing and all your preservation dilemmas.

General
Water-based coatings have been part of our industry for a long time and preservation has been one of the key issues ever since. Nobody likes to open a can and look at a mouldy surface. The same applies to facades or wood surfaces: The ingredients of the dried paints and mortars can be a breeding ground for mildew and mould. Both cases lead to performance issues and and so does underwater fouling, for example.
With that in mind, in-can and film preservation is a key factor in coatings formulation as it kills live material in the formualtion or the film and prevents further growth. But the prevalent materials also have their downsides: some of them can cause allergies, degrade in the film, leach out and many more. This WebForum will give a holistic overview of the situation: How companies can test, establish hygenic plans or switch to biocide free solutions. But it will also touch upon the different biocide options for film and in-can solutions and highlight the best approach respectively.
Live presentations, open disucssion groups in the breaks (including audio and video) as well as Q&As on on-demand talks will make this conference a varied and comprehensive online event.

On-Demand talks and discussion groups
How does it work? During these sessions, the choice is yours.
You will be given access to two pre-recorded talks in advance of the WebForm to watch at your leisure. The speakers will host live Q&A sessions that you can join. Alternatively, open discussion groups will be offered where you can share issues and challenges and discuss the most appropriate approach in preservation technology.
Speakers

Gabi Büttner
UMCO
Gabi Büttner is head of Global Chemicals Management at UMCO GmbH in Hamburg. She started there in 2007 as a consultant in the area of chemical legislatioin. As an expert for biocides, she has been responsible for strategic consulting and complex project management for active ingredient approval procedures and biocidal product approvals since 2012. The development of approval strategies for biocidal products and advice on delimitation issues round off her area of responsibility. As a speaker, she regularly shares her in-depth expertise at seminars, workshops and conferences.
Dr Ulla Bollmann
Aarhus University
Ulla E. Bollmann is Senior Researcher at the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (GEUS) in Copenhagen, Denmark. She graduated from Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena (Germany) as Environmental Chemist and owes a PhD in Environmental Science from Aarhus University (Denmark) in 2015. She has a long track-record on the environmental transport and transformation of organic biocides used in construction materials (e.g. terbutryn, carbendazim, OIT) – release from the materials to rainwater and soil, transport with stormwater run-off to surface waters and wastewater, photo- and biological transformation in the materials and the environment. Current research at the Geological Survey focusses particularly soil and groundwater pollution by 1,2,4-triazole and N,N-dimethylsulfamid (DMS), investigating the contribution from their parent compounds use in agriculture or as wood preservative.
Alexander Böhler
Remmers Group
COO of Remmers Group and Chairman of CellFacts Analytics.
Anders Larsson
RISE Research Institute
Business Developer and Senior Scientist.
Dr Burkard Watermann
Limnomar
Starting the professional career as biologist by the investigation of fish diseases in relation to environmental pollution. Since 30 active as head of LimnoMar investigating diseases of aquatic animals with relation to antifouling biocides and research on environmental friendly fouling prevention solutions
Dr. Christoph Walter
German Paint and Printing Ink Association (VdL)
