Project aims to use biobased aromatics for sustainable alkyd coatings

The whole value chain is included: from bio-waste (Cosun Beet Company, Lenzing and Vertoro), conversion to (aromatic) building blocks (TNO, Biorizon and Relement), resin synthesis (Worlée Chemie), paint formulation (Baril Coatings) to coating application (Straalbedrijf Boxtel and Tobroco Giant).
New biobased resins for alkyd coatings
European non-edible biomass residues will be converted into the essential building block bio MPA (3-methylphthalic anhydride), and this will be used to formulate new biobased resins for alkyd coatings which will then be applied on an electric wheel loader.
The project is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund under the REACT-EU programme.
