On the day before the European Coatings Congress, ten pre-congress tutorials will be held to familiarise attendees with the basics of major coatings technologies. These three-hour lectures will take place on Sunday, 17 March 2013. Armed with the relevant knowledge, attendees will then be perfectly prepared for the European Coatings Congress on the following two days (18/19 March).

Renowned experts from both industry and academia will discuss the basic concepts and chemistries involved and introduce the latest research findings in their respective coatings area. Attendees can choose from the following topics:

-          Basics of marine coatings (speaker: Erik Risberg, Jotun)

-          Fundamentals of epoxy coatings (Martin Gerlitz, Huntsman)

-          Film formation in latex paints (Prof. Stuart Croll, North Dakota State University)

-          Sustainable technologies without compromise (Prof. Jamil Baghdachi, Eastern Michigan University)

-          Formulating adhesives and sealants (Dr Matthias Popp, Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Advanced Materials (IFAM))

-          Functional Coatings (Dr Volkmar Stenzel, Fraunhofer IFAM)

-          Polyurethanes (Simon Waddington, PU Consultant)

-          Easy-to-clean coatings (Prof. Bert de With, Eindhoven University of Technology)

-          Architectural coatings (Dr Christian Schaller, Sto AG)

-          Anticorrosive coatings (Dr Lars Kirmaier, Heubach)

-          Fire-retardent coatings (Dr. Adrian Beard, ClariantProdukte Deutschland GmbH).

In order to facilitate idea-sharing and networking between attendees and speakers, the tutorials will be restricted to 25 participants each. Pre-registration is strongly recommended, as registration will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis. You can register here.
