"Nissan Scratch Shield” is a self-healing clearcoat that maintains appearance and gloss levels. Stephen Brindle, Nissan Motor Manufacturing Limited, UK, will present a technical paper on this clearcoat at the European Coatings Conference "Functional coatings” on 5 and 6 June, 2012 in Berlin, Germany. The presentation explores the customer research into purchase trends and reasons to buy a car relating to key paint quality items and the need to provide a solution to mar damage suffered during the life of the vehicle. The paper considers the modifications required in formulation between standard clearcoats and scratch shield while still achieving the required balance of durability properties to fully satisfy customer and market expectations.
