Ultramarine blue (PB 29) is a blue inorganic pigment that has been widely used in all kinds of applications because of its unique reddish undertone, excellent performance and ability to tint whites, greys and blacks. One of the weaknesses of this pigment is its use in cementitious formulations, though. Nubiola and the Instituto de la Construcción Eduardo Torroja (CSIC-Madrid, Spain) have now developed the "Nubicem B Series", new ultramarine blue pigments for cementitious formulations. The series consists of two different products: "Nubicem B-101" and "Nubicem B-201". The first is an ultramarine blue protected against possible interactions with cement, and the second is an ultramarine blue modified with cobalt blue. Both products’ performance has been tested under aggressive accelerated conditions of outdoor exposure and rain simulation. Find more suppliers and their products in the EC Market Navigator:
