The one-day seminar will take place on 14 May 2014 in Frankfurt, Germany. Lecturer is Prof. Bernd Strehmel from University of Applied Science, Krefeld, Germany.

The binder is the backbone of every coating system

Filmformers are polymers or oligomers (prepolymers) which are generally organic by nature and which polymerise as the coating cures. The seminar will familiarize with the chemical principles and basic reactions that occur in polymer chemistry, as well as with the various types of binder and their application areas. Participants will learn everything they need to know about polymerisation reactions, the chemical composition of binders and the resulting application areas for the different classes of binder. In addition, the seminar will also give an overview about characteristic properties of polymers needed to specify binders for QC checking in coating production and use.
