A cationic epoxy-amine-adduct for air drying anti-corrosion applications has been developed by Cytec Specialty Chemicals. According to Dr. Leila Khatai fills this technology the gap between 1K air drying coating systems like modified alkyds or acrylics, which are suitable for corrosion category C3 (ISO 12944-2) and 2K epoxies covering C5. This adduct has no pot life issues, dries fast and at low temperatures. As the binder has a low solvent content, the VOC is low as well. New critical aspects and challenges as well as further benefits of this novel 1K technology will be discussed on 27th October at the EUROPEAN COATINGS CONFERENCE "Anti corrosive coatings II" in Berlin http://www.european-coatings.com/events/ecc49.cfm.
