Improving abrasion restistance, hardness and recoatability

Monday, 28 September 2009

A new additive was developed with good abrasion resistance, leveling and slip to clear and pigmented paints.

Dow Corning has introduced an novel performance-enhancing additive that brings good abrasion resistance, leveling and slip to clear and pigmented paints, coatings and inks without generating excessive foam or compromising the gloss or clarity of the finished coating. The "55N Additive" has also been found to improve coating hardness and recoatability in certain water-based coating applications. Paints, coatings and inks with a high coefficient of friction are susceptible to damage both during application and throughout the life of the coated piece. The additive reduces this without poor recoatability, gloss reduction and foaming problems.

Improvement of hardness and recoatability brings the new additive.
