Dispersants with high pigment loading give paints extra brilliance

Thursday, 9 May 2013

Clariant has introduced a new dispersing agent for water-borne pigment preparations, called "Dispersogen PL 30/40”. Aimed at organic pigments and carbon blacks, these dispersants give paints extra brilliance, thanks to their high pigment loading. The combination of polymers makes it possible to prepare dispersions with a pigment concentration of more than 50 %. This can be done using the new Dispersogen types without sacrificing flowability. The pigment preparations have viscosities within the range of 50 to 500 mPas. The dispersing agents do not require a CLP label under EU Directive 2008/1272/EC, and have low levels of VOCs. They are suitable for use in low-emission decorative paints bearing Germany’s "Blue Angel” eco-label under RAL-UZ 102.
