Without any doubt, the marine coating market is not the biggest one. But the Litre consumption can be up to several hundred thousands litres per newbuilding. The application work is done all over the year. And the vessels are later on 24h @ 365 days in service under very strong environmental influences, as mentioned in ISO 12944 - 5 with class C5M. The coating scheme for the ballast water tanks is since Dec. 2006 a safety related item. The quality of the coating, application and maintenance is getting more and more important.
The lecture from Lars Etzold, Meyer Werft GmbH, Germany, will show from a new building shipyard's point of view the requirements to fulfill these targets. The coating material is only one part of all aspects, but it is the basis for the performance. The right material, the professional application and proper maintenance are the key factors for a long lasting life for a vessel. And there are not just requirements for the coating performance, there are also items which must be considered for the application and maintenance.
Join the presentation at the European Coatings Conference "Marine coatings III” on 28/29 February in Berlin!
