PPG Industries Inc.’s protective and marine coatings business has introduced an "entry-level” version of its premium antifouling "Sigma Syladvance 800".

The new "Sigma Syladvance 700" coating is a "high-performance antifouling designed specifically for ships working at medium to high rates of operation and medium speeds”, according to the manufacturer. Like its predecessor, the self-smoothing product is based on patented silyl acrylate polymer technology. The new coating can be specified for dry dock maintenance and repair projects, with performance for up to 60 months, said Sijmen Visser, PPG global marketing manager, marine.
