PPG Industries has launched a new multi-purpose primer, which is designed to help bodyshops cut costs and increase productivity. Customers working with "DP4000" will see considerable improvement to their bodyshop efficiency. A simple one-coat application coupled with no requirement to sand the electrocoat and quick drying times allows the bodyshop to significantly reduce preparation times for new panels. The new primer also delivers increased spraybooth utilisation and consequently higher throughput. Conventional wet-on-wet undercoats can reduce spraybooth capacity, where time is needed to apply and flash-off the wet-on-wet product. By providing the option to apply the required topcoat up to five days after the undercoat is applied without the need to flat, the new product eliminates this issue.
