ECS 2017: Sooner than expected

Friday, 9 December 2016 | Posted by: Vanessa Bauersachs, European Coatings Journal

Every year, Christmas approaches faster. To my mind, the same could be said for the European Coatings Show. To me the last ECS 2015 feels just a couple of months ago but already it is time to prepare for the next one. Recently, we have published our preview magazine for the upcoming show in April 2017. In addition to information on the show and conference, the magazine contains a multitude of trends interviews. Browsing the interviews, it is quite clear: Low-VOC and water-borne coatings remain absolute focus topics.

"We recognise that the trend towards sustainable, low-VOC and water-borne coatings is still strong and that now there will also be greater focus on developments aimed at multifunctional smart coatings”, says for instance Dr. Hans Ridderikhoff of Croda in our trend interview with exhibiting companies.

Traditional is no longer enough

Another aspect that is mentioned in several interviews is the increasing differentiation and the need for special functionalities within the sector. "Traditional coatings properties are no longer enough”, explains for instance Daniel Brünink of Evonik in an interview on the latest trends in architectural coatings.

Have you made similar experiences? And what do you think will be trends for the European Coatings Show 2017. Our preview magazine is available here.
