Molecular Imprinting

Methods by which smart coatings can have sensing or separation properties for chemical and biomolecules can involve a type of molecular imprinting polymerization (MIP). There is a lot of interest for mimicking anti-bodies, enzymes, taste sensation, etc. One of the best ways this has been implemented in polymer materials is through MIP.

Time to invest in Innovation, R&D and Marketing – time to invest in the future

Despite, threats of double dip recessions, the Euro crisis, rising energy costs, raw material limitations and availability and increasing pressure on profit margins from a host of other growing costs, I believe the time has come to up the investment levels in two major business activities, Innovation (through Research and Development) and Marketing. Calling on the power of science has to become the cornerstone of business success, collaborative leadership the foundation of fertile teamwork, all essential to reap the rewards of successful investment.

Extremely friendly

Everybody has his own opinion about environmental issues. Thinking about the different possibilities to collect and recycle waste or to stop nuclear power shows that we are all very involved in green topics. Discussions on TV as well as in newspapers around the globe search for reasons pro and con of new green ways. I have the feeling that it is a must to be green, especially in the coatings industry. It is a duty to act environmentally friendly. I am happy that we are all looking for it, but the marketing of new development has become so extremely environmentally friendly now, that it seems to be a "Green-technology Show”. I even think that technical advantages of some products are forced into the background just for presenting the green idea. There is a big danger that this buzz word starts to get annoying, instead of being positively seized.
