No more euphoria for nanotechnology?

Over the past years, not a day went by without incoming press releases and paper proposals on exciting new nanotechnology projects. Everybody wanted to be involved, to be part of a totally new technology. At conferences, speakers presented promising developments for applications not thought to be possible before. We virtually had to stop ourselves from reporting too much on nanobased topics.

New Chemistry copies nature: dreams become reality

Can New Chemistry copy Nature to capture carbon dioxide and successfully manufacture materials that the Coatings Industry can use? Could carbon dioxide generated from paint at the end of its life be transformed into raw materials for new coatings formulations? Once just a dream, there are signs of this becoming a reality.

Novel Coatings: same performance with fewer layers

Two articles in the May-Issue of the European Coatings JOURNAL aroused my interest, because both are dealing with groundbreaking innovations: highest levels of durability without priming on a plastic substrate and effective protection of metal structures against corrosion with only one layer of a waterborne dispersion
