Sika is opening a subsidiary company in Sri Lanka and hopes to be part of its major economic boom. The country has been witnessing a remarkable economic upswing since the end of the conflict in 2009 and the World Bank is estimating a growth of 7.3 % for 2014. It is particularly tourism, one of Sri Lanka’s fastest growing industries, which boosts the country’s building sector which the subsidiary company is supposed to supply with various products. The plant and laboratories are still under construction but are scheduled to start production until the end of the year.

By opening its new subsidiary, the company also wants to strengthen its presence in the region after previously establishing new factories in Surabaya, Indonesia, and Jhagadia, India.
