Originally specialising in auxiliary products for the textile industry, the French family group has expanded its expertise into niche markets in the chemical industry such as paper, paints, agriculture, perfume compositions, water treatment, environmental biotechnologies, and more recently, in the field of the electronic chemicals.

Key to continuation of the Group's external growth

The Group, which forecasts an annual turnover of 170 million EUR by the end of 2014 – of which 80% is outside France – and targets an annual turnover of 200 million EUR by the end of 2015. The Group has increased and accelerated its focus in the segment of electronics chemistry: and see this field as key to the continuation of its external growth and expansion abroad and market development. Electronic Chemistry – now represents 10% of the activity of Protex International and this segment had grown 25% during the last 5 years – is it managed via subsidiaries: Protavic in France, United States, China and South Korea.

This new acquisition enables the Group to strengthen and increases the potential of Protavic America. (Mereco will remain legally autonomous). Protavic America will soon welcome her new American sister on to its site at Londonderry in New Hampshire: this will offer common research for innovative and specific solutions with applications dedicated to the electronics, the launching of new high performance new products, allow access to new customers and markets.

Integration allows pursuit of "cross-fertilisation”

Today Protex International has a complete range of chemical specialties for electronics such as conductive glues, specialty resins and encapsulations, adhesives, optical fiber, LED, fuel cells, technology of the solar and photovoltaic cells. The objective of the Group is to strengthen its presence in the "Key Partner-lists” of main customers and to be a major player in this niche market, with state-of-the art products. The integration of Mereco which is located at West Warwick, in the State of Rhode Island, will allow pursuit of the policy of "cross-fertilisation” with both the human and technical exchanges necessary for the project management and new product conception, which will be in conjunction with Protavic International based at the industrial site of Synthron, in Auzouer-en-Touraine. The implementation of scientific partnerships with laboratories and French and foreign universities to "boost” the research and the innovation in chemistry in electronics will follow itself and to anticipate the future needs for the various industries.
