Perstorp lays off employees in Sweden

Wednesday, 19 November 2008

A rapidly fallen demand of certain speciality chemical products in the recent months has led Perstorp to lay off 105 employees in Sweden

The Perstorp Group needs to lay off 105 employees in Sweden as a result of the lack of orders of certain specialty chemical products and as part of a global rationalization scheme. "Demand has fallen rapidly in recent months and nothing points to a quick improvement in the order intake. We have probably not hit the bottom of the recession yet," says CEO Bo Dankis. "Especially affected are the automotive and construction industries, which are where many of Perstorp’s products end up." Of the 105 employees, 68 work in Perstorp and Helsingborg and 37 in Stenungsund and Nol. Perstorp has around 1000 employees in Sweden.
