Rising figures: Japan’s paint production and sales in 2010

After a deep fall in 2009, the paint production and sales figures have increased again during the year 2010. The Paint & Finishing News has just reported the latest figures provided by the JapanPaint Manufacturers Association.

After a deep fall in 2009, the paint production and sales figures have increased again during the year 2010. The Paint & Finishing News has just reported the latest figures provided by the Japan Paint Manufacturers Association: From 1 January 2010 until 31 December 2010 production volume of Japanese paint manufacturers amounted to 1,600,015 tonnes. Compared to the challenging year 2009, this figure had increased by 7.8 %. In the full-year 2010 sales volume had reached 1,741,377 tonnes, which is 6.3 % more than in the year before. Looking at the value of paints sold in 2010, it had also increased by 6.3 %. Thus sales value was JPY 674 billion (JPY 1 = EUR 0.009) between January and December 2010. With JPY 387 per kilogram of paint, the average price per kg stayed at the same level as 2009.
