On 29 May, Hempel A/S signed an agreement to acquire 65 percent of the shares in the German decorative paints manufacturer J.W. Ostendorf. Hempel recently received official approval from the German and British authorities. The contract was concluded on 27 September 2018. The joint venture is now official. With the conclusion of the contract, Decorative Europe as a new region at Hempel will become a reality.

Growth in the European and global markets

Together with the British company Crown Paints, which also belongs to the Hempel Group, JWO will drive the cooperation forward with the aim of promoting Hempel's growth on both the European and global markets for decorative paints. JWO and Crown Paints will continue to be run as independent companies. The Ostendorf family will play a key role in the new joint venture. Jan and Jens Ostendorf will be Business Area Directors for Northern and Southern Europe at Hempel Decorative Europe.
